What does a window replacement look like step by step? A project example from Gryfice

Replacing windows raises a lot of questions: how long does it take, in what order does it happen, do you need to move out of the room during the work. Using one of our projects in Gryfice as an example, we show what the whole process actually looks like - from first contact to clean-up after installation.

Step 1: measurement and choosing the system

We start with a free on-site measurement - checking the window opening dimensions, the condition of the walls and sills, and the opening style that will be most convenient. At this stage we also select the specific system (PVC, aluminium or wood) and glazing parameters suited to the building.

Step 2: quote and order

Within 24 hours of the measurement we prepare a quote broken down into windows and, if chosen, installation. Once accepted, we order the windows from the manufacturer - lead time depends on the system, typically a few to a couple of weeks of working days.

Step 3: removing the old windows

On installation day our crew removes the old windows, protects floors and furniture with sheeting, and cleans and prepares the opening for the new window. While removing a single window, the room is open to the outside for only a few - several dozen minutes at most.

Step 4: installation and adjustment

We set the new window into the opening, level it, fix it with anchors and seal it with installation foam and vapour-control tape on the inside and vapour-permeable tape on the outside - a key element that determines airtightness for years to come. Finally we adjust the sashes and hardware so the window closes evenly and tightly.

Step 5: clean-up and hand-over

Once installation is finished we clean up the work area and check every window together with the client. The Gryfice project described here covered 8 windows in a single-family home and took us one working day.

How long does the whole process take from first contact to hand-over

To sum up the stages described above: installation itself in a single-family home usually takes one working day, but the whole process from the first phone call to finished installation takes longer - most of that time goes into the manufacturer's production, not our crew's work.
